Traditional Chinese Medicine Services
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a medical system that has been used for thousands of years to prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions and diseases. The goal is by using a variety of modalities the practitioner can help to improve the body’s function and promote the natural self-healing process. Traditional Chinese medicine includes acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na, herbal therapy, and diet therapy.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a part of TCM in which hair thin, sterile needles are inserted into the body at specific points. By needling these points, the nervous system is stimulated into releasing chemicals that help reduce pain, increase circulation and decrease inflammation.
Cupping
Cupping is a TCM practice in which a cup is applied to the skin in a manner that creates a light suction. It is especially useful to release tight muscles and increase blood flow. A technique of sliding the cups along tight muscle bands works well to release tension.
Electro-Acupuncture
Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that delivers a small electrical current via a device that is attached to the handle of the needle. Electro-acupuncture can be used to address a range of health issues including pain, stress, addiction and depression.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a modality of TCM where a smooth, hand-held tool is used to scrape the skin. Gua sha can be used to alleviate musculoskeletal pain, improve circulation and decrease inflammation.
Tui Na
Tui Na is a form of Chinese medical massage which is used to manipulate the joints and soft tissues. This light form of manual therapy is used in traditional Chinese Medicine to encourage and improve blood flow to areas of the body, decrease pain, and inflammation.
