My name is Cley Charlson and I am from Sioux Falls, SD. I grew up always having a passion for athletics and living a healthy lifestyle. This passion has been present for as long as I can remember, but it really took over when I was in high school and joined the track and field team. This is where I began to push myself to excel in the gym, specifically powerlifting, and to accelerate my drive to be the best I could be.
I graduated high school with a high school championship in track and field and decided to continue my education at The University of South Dakota to study Kinesiology with an emphasis in pre-medicine. It was here that I picked up on boxing throughout my undergraduate studies along with continued lifting, remaining active and continuously around people experiencing musculoskeletal injuries.
I unfortunately experienced my first serious MSK injury during weightlifting that left me barely able to walk. I sought out the help of a chiropractor from Sioux Falls as I felt I was going to need surgery to get back to normal again.
It was here that I fell in love with the chiropractic field and how my doctor helped me to restore my functionality and get me back into the gym performing better than before. I was rehabbed and retrained in my lifting strategies, nutritional diet, how I was programming, and ultimately treating my body biomechanically. I desired to understand the human body how my doctor did and through shadowing opportunities established that I officially wanted to become a doctor of chiropractic and help patients the way he helped me.
